How Haunted Heist Maps Change Every Round
Getting a gem is only half the job when you still have to find your way home. Haunted Heist maps put your crew inside a procedurally generated mansion, where changing routes and hiding spots make navigation part of survival. Learning how to read Haunted Heist maps helps you bring gems back before the timer expires while keeping enough ammunition and battery power for the trip.
Haunted Heist is an asymmetrical horror party game for 3–8 players. Heisters cooperate to retrieve gems, while opposing Tricksters disrupt their search with attacks, deception, and abilities that interfere with communication. Every round introduces a fresh mansion layout.
That changing floor plan puts a premium on paying attention. Build your understanding of the current mansion as you explore: where passages connect, which direction leads back toward the safe room, and where your teammates last saw a threat.
| Mansion feature | How it affects the round |
|---|---|
| Procedurally generated layout | Each round introduces new routes and hiding spots |
| Gems scattered throughout the mansion | Heisters must explore to locate their objectives |
| Safe room | Collected gems must be returned here |
| Round timer | Exploration and delivery must happen before time expires |
| Opposing Tricksters | Attacks and deception complicate movement through the mansion |
Memorize connections as you move. After entering a room, look back at the doorway you used. At an intersection, remember which passage brought you there. These small checks give you something concrete to follow when a scare interrupts your search.
Keep your callouts tied to the current layout. “Back through the doorway we entered” gives a teammate a useful instruction. “Over here” becomes much less helpful when everyone is facing a different direction.
Use the Safe Room to Organize Your Gem Runs
The safe room is the destination that gives exploration its purpose. Heisters must collect gems and return them there before time runs out. Running out of time or having the crew wiped out gives the Tricksters their victory.

Treat every outward trip as a round trip. Before following another hallway, recall the route you will need to retrace while carrying your objective and dealing with an enemy team.
Haunted Heist maps reward that habit because the mansion changes between rounds. Establish your return route again whenever a new layout begins.
The Two-Floor Safe Room Map
The June 27, 2026 beta included a two-floor map in the safe room, alongside walkie-talkies and other gameplay improvements. For that beta version, use the map to orient yourself before exploring and to connect the floor plan with the rooms you encounter.
Match the map to your movement. Identify the direction you intend to search, then pay attention to the connections you actually pass through. A remembered floor plan is useful only if you can place yourself within it.
Keep the Return Trip in the Conversation
Share route information while the crew is calm enough to use it. Call out a passage as you enter it, identify the direction back, and tell nearby teammates when you turn around with a gem.
| Situation | Suggested callout |
|---|---|
| Leaving the safe room | Describe the doorway or passage your group is taking |
| Reaching a junction | State which branch you are checking |
| Finding a gem | Announce the find and your intended return direction |
| Turning back | Name the route you are retracing |
| Spotting a Trickster | Give its position relative to the group or a visible landmark |
Avoid burying useful information under a long explanation. Proximity chat makes nearby communication central to Heister teamwork, and Tricksters can interfere with voices. Deliver the route information your teammates need while they can hear you.
Before carrying a gem deeper into unfamiliar rooms, pause and identify the way back. Secure the objective you already have when your resources or remaining time make further searching risky.
Explore the Mansion Without Losing Your Crew
Exploration pulls you toward unopened rooms. Survival asks you to keep track of the people beside you. Balance those demands by searching deliberately and staying close enough to communicate and respond to trouble.

Heisters rely on teamwork, proximity chat, and equipment. Wandering away from the group exposes you to being picked off, while a crew that keeps moving together can share discoveries and react to attacks.
For Haunted Heist maps, build a shared mental route rather than relying on one person to remember everything. Ask each teammate to notice the doorway behind them, nearby connections, and the direction of the safe room.
Search With a Clear Purpose
Choose a direction before the group starts moving. Check the rooms along that route, communicate gem discoveries, and reassess when you reach unfamiliar connections.
Use this sequence as a navigation habit:
- Orient yourself. Recall the safe room’s direction and the passage you used to leave it.
- Choose a route. Tell nearby teammates where you intend to search.
- Check rooms deliberately. Keep track of your entrance while looking for gems and useful powerups.
- Share discoveries. Announce objectives, equipment, and nearby threats.
- Reassess the trip. Consider your ammunition, battery, team condition, and remaining time before pushing farther.
These are decisions to practice, not a fixed path through every mansion. Procedural generation gives each round its own arrangement.
Make Landmarks Useful
Use visible features that your teammates can recognize from their position. A doorway, hallway junction, or ladder can anchor a callout more clearly than an isolated “left.”
For example, say “the hallway beyond the ladder” when that describes your location. Give enough context for a teammate approaching from another direction to understand you.
| Navigation habit | What to pay attention to |
|---|---|
| Looking back after entering a room | The entrance you will use when retracing your route |
| Naming a junction | Which passage connects to the area you just searched |
| Tracking vertical movement | Whether your route involved moving between levels |
| Repeating the return direction | Whether the crew still shares the same plan |
| Checking nearby teammates | Whether anyone has fallen behind or changed direction |
When a fight scatters the group, rebuild that shared picture. State your location, describe the nearest recognizable feature, and communicate your next movement before continuing the search.
Manage Equipment Alongside Your Route
A route through Haunted Heist maps also has to account for the gear keeping you alive. Heisters use handguns, flashlights, flares, and defibrillators, with ammunition and battery management forming part of the survival challenge.

Powerups can restore resources, improve equipment, or help with navigation. Share useful finds with the group and consider what the crew needs for its return journey.
Check Resources Before Extending a Search
Check your ammunition and battery before entering another unfamiliar stretch of mansion. Tell teammates when you are running low so they can factor that into the group’s movement.
A gem delivery still requires you to navigate back through contested space. Preserve enough resources to react during that return instead of spending everything on a prolonged encounter away from the objective.
| Equipment or resource | Its role | Suggested habit |
|---|---|---|
| Handgun and ammunition | Combat against threats | Aim deliberately and communicate low ammo |
| Flashlight and battery | Visibility while exploring | Monitor your battery before extending a route |
| Flares | Part of the Heisters’ survival toolkit | Coordinate their use with nearby teammates |
| Defibrillators | Reviving teammates | Assess nearby danger before attempting a rescue |
| Powerups | Resource recovery, equipment improvements, or navigation help | Announce useful finds to the crew |
Keep Fights Connected to the Objective
Avoid chasing an opponent simply because you want another shot. Tricksters win by preventing successful gem retrieval, and a prolonged fight can consume the time and resources your crew needs.
After an encounter, check who is still nearby and where the group intended to go. Resume the gem run when you have a usable route and enough support.
For a rescue, communicate before rushing toward a downed teammate. Have nearby players watch for the Trickster while someone prepares the defibrillator. Keep the location and return direction clear so the rescue does not leave everyone disoriented.
Read the Mansion From the Trickster’s Perspective
Heisters see rooms to search and routes to retrace. Tricksters can use those same connections to set up ambushes and disrupt the crew’s coordination.
Their abilities include night vision, invisibility, disguises, player muting, voice swapping, and voice modulation. Abilities run on cooldowns, making timing a central part of their toolkit.
Haunted Heist maps give those abilities changing routes and hiding places to work with. Learn the current connections and watch how the Heisters move through them.
Time Deception Around Movement
As a Trickster, use communication interference when the crew is making a navigation decision. A confusing voice or a muted teammate can put pressure on a group trying to choose a passage or reconnect after a fight.
Time an ambush around the crew’s movement rather than using every ability immediately. Watch for a Heister falling behind, a group turning back with gems, or players pausing to decide where to go.
Pay attention to your cooldowns before committing. Plan how you will continue pressuring the crew while your abilities recover.
Keep Heister Callouts Specific
As a Heister, account for disguises and altered voices when following a teammate’s directions. Keep instructions tied to visible positions and the route your group has already discussed.
If a voice tells you to take another passage, look for the person giving that instruction and check where nearby teammates are moving. Maintain a shared destination instead of changing direction every time someone shouts.
After an attack, communicate the immediate facts: your position, the enemy’s last location, and the direction you intend to travel. Keep that exchange short enough for the crew to act on it.
Your next round will give you another layout to learn. Practice identifying connections, sharing precise callouts, and bringing objectives home; those habits remain useful as the mansion changes.
